Press Release: City of Benicia Announces Upcoming Ask and Engage Q&A Series with Benicia City Manager and City Council

February 16, 2024 - Members of the public are invited to ask questions about the city’s financial challenges, upcoming revenue measures on the March 2024 ballot, or other community issues at the upcoming Ask and Engage Q&A Series with the City of Benicia. The events are open to the public and no registration is needed.

The series kicks off on Thursday, February 22 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Bruehol Benicia Brewing, located at 4828 East Second Street. Members of the public may stop by at any time to ask questions and chat with Benicia City Manager, Mario Giuliani.

The second event is on Tuesday, February 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Benicia Fire Department Station 12, located at 601 Hastings Drive across from Joe Henderson Elementary School. From 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be an open house at the Fire Station where attendees can receive a tour of the fire station and chat with firefighters. From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., members of the City Council and the City Manager will be available for a Q&A and group discussion.

The City of Benicia is facing a structural financial imbalance, with approximately $6.5 million (10% of the City’s general fund budget) needed in ongoing program and service cuts to reach fiscal sustainability. The city has placed two revenue measures on the March 2024 Presidential Primary Election Ballot, Measure A (Hotel Tax) and Measure B (Benicia Public Safety and Essential Services).
