✅ Virtual Resiliency Plan Community Workshop

January 17, 2024

On January 17, 2024, the City held a virtual Resiliency Plan Community Workshop. The workshop contained an informational presentation, polling from participants, and a Q&A with the City Manager and staff.

Press Release: City of Benicia Seeks Community Input on Program and Service Cuts for Resiliency Plan

January 17, 2024 - To address Benicia’s fiscal challenges, the city is undergoing a resiliency planning process that will identify the community’s priorities of programs and services that the city offers. The city is seeking feedback from residents in January through an online community survey, two virtual workshops and two in-person town halls.

The virtual workshops will have an informational presentation and an opportunity to provide feedback through a virtual poll. The in-person workshops will have hands-on interactive activities and include opportunities to provide input on future cuts, ask questions to city staff or council members, and hear a presentation from the city manager. People are welcome to come and go at any time during the in-person workshops.

The City of Benicia is facing a structural financial imbalance, with approximately $6.5 million (10% of the City’s general fund budget) needed in ongoing program and service cuts to reach fiscal sustainability.

The Resiliency Plan will include the scope of programs offered under two funding scenarios, one if the general sales tax measure, Measure B, on the March 5, 2024, ballot is passed by voters, and another if the sales tax measure is not passed by voters, which would require the city to cut $6.5 million to the general fund budget.
